Founded in 1896 by Dame Frances Dove, Wycombe Abbey School is an independent girls' boarding and day school in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Set in a 170-acre campus, it is consistently ranked as one of the top all-girls schools in the country.
Coloini + Lane were appointed to deliver this stunning restoration and refurbishment of the grade II* listed Big School at Wycombe Abbey School from RIBA Stage 3 through to completion.
The works to Big School restored the historic timber frame; Rejuvenated the historic wall panelling; Brought to life the magical Shelburne Pew; Enhancement of the timber panelled ceiling including the artistic restoration of the historic hatchments; Replacement of the existing floor and sub-structure in its entirety.
A state-of-the-art feature lighting system was also installed which shows off the historic fabric of the listed building with mood settings for any given occasion, from functions to school exams.
